Iconic Australian Home Up For Sale

The iconic Sydney waterfront mansion owned by the Fairfax family is now up for sale.

The property has been owned by the family for 122 years and is expected to be the most expensive home ever sold in the country. Agent Ken Jacobs said it was impossible to put an expected price on the home. It is triple the size of nearby property Altona, which sold for $53 million earlier in the year. The family has decided to sell the home as it is now redundant, and they feel it is time for another family to take it over.

Jacobs is currently embarking on an international marketing campaign to find a buyer. That process is expected to take several months as they identify and approach potential buyers.

The property covers 6,900 square metres, with landscaped gardens extending to the waterfront. It has a genuine estate feel and is located in one of Sydney’s most exclusive suburbs, Point Piper.
